Following the planning of the ETSI Board RFID Ad Hoc group (chaired by Kirit Lathia ETSI Board Member and ICTSB Chair), this second ETSI RFID workshop should determine how and when new standardization projects related to the "RFID Networks" could be developed at ETSI. The format of this second ETSI RFID workshop will be like a working meeting rather than a conference  (not a  slide show only). The goal is to deliver draft terms of reference (and liaisons) for new RFID Networks standardization activities.

Patrick Guillemin from ETSI Secretariat (in charge of the RFID Networks/Internet Of Things ETSI strategic topic) will ensure the coordination of standards proposals and will help to develop the terms of reference of the standardization groups. The plan is to focus on RFID Networks and Security in the context of the Internet Of Things.

Working session on elaboration of draft terms of reference

Monday 25 February  2008 18:00 End of meeting

Rationale

The 25 February ETSI workshop plan is to elaborate terms of reference of new RFID Networks in the context of the Internet Of Things (IoT)  to be able to handle new standardization in this new domain.

On 25th February, we will identify together in this ETSI open working meeting (rather than a standing conference) what are the new actions needed (Standard landscape/gap analysis, terminology, global dialogue and liaisons, report needed, IoT Plugtests, IoT testing standards, issues, quality requirements, performance, robustness, interoperability/conformance, security, privacy, architecture requirements, protocols, middleware, SOA, services, applications, operations, governance, regulation...) that are not yet conducted within ETSI existing technical bodies.

Of course we will include the ETSI proposals made in the 1st workshop, the new participants in the 2 workshops, the on-going EU Initiatives (CASAGRAS, GRIFS, CuteLOOP, ETP EPoSS, EU RFID Expert Group, CERP Cluster...)

The plan is to propose F.I.T. (Future Internet of Things) for the name of this "starter group" (incubator of new technical body/TB, working group/WG, TC, EP, ISG...). We have to identify the proposals and the supporters.

(*) You can plan to have lunch at the self-service of France Telecom or sandwich/salad (near the Einstein building) shop at walking distance of the ETSI premises
